Highlands Middle School

Aviation Magnet Program visits

Lannie Rd Model Flying Field

On Wednesday June 14th Highlands Middle Schools avaition magnet summer camp program brought students to the Lannie Rd Model Flying Field for a hands on demo to complement their in class room "ground school" and simulator training.  I'll let co-ordinator Juan Markt describe it in his own words...

On behalf of Highlands Middle School - Aviation and Military Science Magnet Program, and the 18 students attending model aviation summer camp, I want to thank you for making their visit to Gateway RC Club a memorable learning experience. Students and teachers enjoyed the demonstration of RC flying and welcomed the opportunity for some hands-on training. As a result of this experience, at least two students have already fill out an application to join AMA and plan to get involved in RC flying. As you may know the magnet program at Highlands Middle School is new and one of the very few aviation magnets established at the middle school level in the country. At their age, middle school students have limited opportunities to experience aviation first-hand but RC flying is an opportunity accessible to them.

Here is some additional info about this particular summer camp:
